Lagos Train Trip

The Legacy society is committed to preserving and raising awareness of some of the historical buildings and sites in Nigeria and part of their work has been renovating parts of the railway compound in Ebutta Mette, Lagos.

We were invited to join them on a train journey to Ijoko, 40km north of Lagos, where we were welcomed by local royalty! It was a fantastic trip and a real opportunity to see parts of this country that expats usually never get close to.

The train trundled along at 25km/hour due to the amount of people that were using the tracks as an ideal location for a local market. One retailer was not quick enough in moving her stock and so a bunch of bras and other ladys’ delicates ended up on the front of the train!
